Peter Gottfried
Founder, President
Peter K. Gottfried is the founder and President of Natural Systems Analysts, Inc. (NSA), an environmental consulting and geospatial technology firm established in 1985. With more than four decades of experience in environmental science, natural resources, geographic information systems (GIS), floodplain management, land use planning, and project development, he has directed hundreds of projects for federal, tribal, state, local government, and private-sector clients throughout the United States.
Mr. Gottfried's responsibilities include corporate leadership, business development, finance and accounting, human resources, project management, client relations, and technical oversight of environmental and GIS projects. His professional experience includes science and technical support services, public lands monitoring, GIS-based habitat assessment, natural resource mapping, environmental compliance, flood-prone area analysis, submerged aquatic vegetation monitoring, environmental planning, and due diligence investigations.
Early in his career, Mr. Gottfried worked as an environmental scientist evaluating the impacts of coal mining and energy development projects, gaining firsthand experience in natural resource management, environmental compliance, reclamation planning, and energy-related environmental issues. He later served as Assistant District Administrator for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in the 33-county Mississippi District, where he was involved in economic development, public infrastructure, community development, and resource management programs.
In addition to his consulting and business experience, Mr. Gottfried served three terms as a City Commissioner for the City of Winter Park, Florida. During his tenure, he worked extensively with citizens, businesses, and technical staff on issues involving environmental stewardship, stormwater management, comprehensive planning, growth management, land use, and long-range community development. His public service experience reinforced the importance of public engagement, consensus building, and practical solutions to complex environmental and development challenges.
Mr. Gottfried currently serves on the Wyoming Energy Resources Council and is Chairman of the Energy Policy Committee of the Wyoming Business Alliance. He is a Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Certified GIS Professional (GISP), and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM). He is also a licensed real estate broker in both Florida and Wyoming, providing specialized knowledge in land acquisition, development, real estate transactions, and site selection.
Mr. Gottfried holds dual citizenship in the United States and Mexico and brings an international perspective to environmental consulting, natural resource management, economic development, and business operations.

Chris Gottfried is President of Gannett Peak Energy & Environmental Services, Inc. and serves on the faculty of William & Mary as an Adjunct Professor of Law and Instructor of Finance. He is Program Director of the Master of Legal Studies Program and faculty lead for the Compliance & Risk Management Program.
His academic and professional interests focus on bank regulation, consumer finance law, corporate finance, digital assets and blockchain technologies, artificial intelligence, legal technology, and emerging regulatory frameworks. Through his teaching and research, Chris works at the intersection of law, finance, technology, and risk management, helping prepare future leaders to navigate rapidly evolving business and regulatory environments.
In practice, Chris brings nearly 20 years of experience as a banker, attorney, compliance officer, risk management professional, and consultant. He has led enterprise-wide regulatory compliance, remediation, governance, and risk assessment initiatives for large financial institutions, banking organizations, and financial technology companies. His work has included evaluating and strengthening compliance management systems, governance frameworks, internal controls, regulatory audit programs, operational risk programs, and corporate compliance strategies.
